Day #23: Choose a quote that means something to you

In one of the final scenes of The Lord of The Rings series Frodo Baggins can be heard summing up his experience of  danger and turmoil of trying to destroy the 'ring' with these powerful words:
"How do you pick up the threads of an old life? How do you go on, when in your heart you begin to understand... there is no going back. There are some things that time cannot mend. Some hurts that go too deep, that have taken hold."
On his journey Frodo saw some pretty awful things and got mixed up with some rather nasty characters which  changed him and caused him to lose his sense of innocence and wonder about the world.  At the end of the  film he sails off into the next phase of his life simply because he knows he cannot find happiness and peace in his old life back in Shire anymore.

This quote always touched me because it implies an acceptance of the past and somehow making a clean break from it.  You just have get on the damn ship like Frodo did and keep moving forward to a better life and a better you.  There is no going back.
